Active movement is a basic manifestation of life, takes place according to the laws of physics and is purposefully controlled by the nervous system. The movement responds to stimuli from the indoor and outdoor environment. For example, a decrease in blood sugar levels leads to motor behavior during hunger, an increase in adrenaline prepares the body for more physical activity in danger. A characteristic feature of human movement is the rhythmic alternation of movement phases, e.g. flexion and extension. The regular rhythm of movement of a certain harmonic frequency is accompanied by an emotional experience, it affects the psyche, and thus the movement behavior of the personality. The purpose of movement is influenced by the needs of the body and mental functions.
Movement behavior
The overall course of movement activity of a living object is formed by movement behavior. Repeated movement behavior is gradually pressed into the setting of individual body parts, and thus into the overall expression of the body, posture and facial expression. It even affects the structure of the body. The movement itself affects the experiences and feelings of the individual. It can cause pain and joy. Physical activity affects the state of mind, usually leading to satisfaction, but sometimes to fatigue or depression.
Influence of movement on life processes
Lack of active movement causes functional and structural changes in the body. Lack of exercise leads to a loss of muscle mass, shortening of ligament structures, muscles and skeletal structure changes, which are manifested by osteoporosis. There is also a worsening of the control processes that occur when the body does not receive regular exercise. Functional and structural failures can also occur in the event of a failure or prolonged failure of the steering mechanism (specific movement worsens after prolonged inactivity). The musculoskeletal system also acts as a circulatory support system and also supports the function of the abdominal organs. Lack of exercise reduces blood and lymph circulation. The musculoskeletal system is the largest consumer of energy-rich substances and therefore has a significant impact on the course of metabolic processes in the body.
Relationship between movement and CNS (central nervous system) function
Physical activity is directly related to the activity of the CNS, and thus to the psyche and state of mind. By comparing the idiot's poor movement with the actor's rich movement, this dependence of movement on CNS activities stands out. Psychiatric disorders also affect motor behavior. Motor behavior is subject not only to the mentality of the individual, but is also influenced by the behavior of the surrounding community. Physical activity is used to communicate with the environment, it is manifested by social behavior. The physical activity of an individual in a narrower community adapts to the environment. Muscle activity induced by sensory stimuli affects CNS function retroactively and also affects the course of mental processes. Therefore, it is possible to use physical activity to therapeutically influence - both physical and mental activity.
Psychomotor relationships
Maintaining physical and mental fitness allows survival in more difficult conditions. The current development of technical civilization leads to the misconception that machines free man from physical exertion, which, however, is a source of physical fitness and thus vitality. Lack of movement in a civilized society leads to a reduction or even loss of physical fitness, which is underestimated for the intellectual. The need to walk as a minimum necessary movement is replaced by means of transport. The average required physical fitness thus decreases and obesity increases due to the disproportionate ratio between physical activity and food intake.
Sport as movement compensation
The need to recover from the stressful situations that arise in a highly industrialized society raises the need to compensate for the lack of exercise, but also of social behavior. For this purpose, a sport is suitable, bringing a pleasant experience of relaxation. Hobby in the form of various activities improve psychological and physical balance, bring freshness and health to the body. Recently, the harmful influence of the lack of exercise on the renaissance of active sports activities is beginning to be pointed out to the general public as well. It turns out that in the competition for a good place, not only professional qualifications apply, but also the physical fitness of the individual is increasingly required. This is not only a guarantee of health, but also of job stability and permanent working ability.
