Autogenic training

1 minute reading

There are several ways to resist the negative impact of stress on our body and psyche. Imagine an effective way to deal with stress and get real relaxation. Autogenic training is a technique that teaches our body to relax through our verbal commands. We speak the commands in our mind and direct them to certain parts of the body. Autogenic training can also be explained as a self-creating systematic exercise. The author is Johannes H. Schultz. Autogenic training is based on autosuggestion, the fact that the idea we focus on tends to be realized.

Effects of Autogenic Training

The goal is to achieve deep relaxation and reduce stress. Autogenic training helps to overcome certain addictions, to reduce states of nervousness, anxiety, to cope with various psychological and physical problems by achieving inner balance and calmness, well-being, concentration, self-control and self-confidence.

Autogenic training consists of six standard exercises. We learn to feel heat, gravity, relaxation and coolness in the body. It is usually practiced 2-3 times a day for 10-15 minutes. By gradually adding more exercises and perfecting the previous ones, the time for each exercise is reduced (6 exercises, 2-3 minutes per exercise). The exercises build on each other. The relaxation effect is already felt in the first stages, but gradually increases. Each stage must be learned perfectly and gradually. Only after you have completely mastered one stage should you move on to the next.
